HORIZONTAL ROLL-UP INSECT SCREEN ON MEASURE WITH 2 PANELS AND LOW BOTTOM TRACK

Please take your time to read the assembly instructions to carry out a safe and correct installation. Do not proceed simply by looking at the images!
Before starting the installation process, we suggest watching the related installing video. We also remind you that, when installing, the regulations in force in their respective countries have to be respected in terms of safety. Therefore, it will be necessary to use all the devices needed for personal protection to guarantee the carry out of the installation in complete safety. Thank you!page1image23019520

Attention: the installation of our insect screens is carried out via an expansion mechanism which exerts pressure on the walls of the window or door opening. For this reason, the assembly manageability must be evaluated based on the solidity of the material used to create the opening. For example, in case of exterior insulation finishing systems (EIFS), installation may not be possible with this mechanism and will have to be evaluated based on the solidity of the wall opening itself.

– – 1 – –

ATTENTION: Before starting the assembly, make sure you have all the following items:

  • 40 mm Allen key to mount the expansion end caps
  • 25 mm Allen key to mount the hook components
  • 20 mm Allen wrench to assemble the blocking elements of the guides

Attention: in the hardware bag, you will also find components that are automatically supplied (see photo). These components will be needed exclusively for the assembly of insect screens with a width greater than 250 cm. In these cases, the upper and bottom guides are supplied in two pieces. If you have received the two-piece guides, please read the mounting system starting from section B.

SECTION A

If the guide is supplied in one piece, the assembly of the components in the photo (see below) will not be necessary. In case you are unable to fit the guides in one piece for your personal reasons of space management, you can cut them into two pieces of the same size. Once the upper guide has been cut in two, it will be necessary to shorten only one of the two pieces by 1 cm. Once done, proceed with cutting the bottom guide, first into two equal elements and then proceed by shortening one of the two elements by 1.4 cm.

In case you need to cut the guides, please continue by reading the assembly instructions in SECTION B.

– – 1 – –

Prepare the low track and the upper guide as shown in the photo by positioning the blocking elements in the centre of each guide and secure them with a 2 mm Allen key (not supplied). Attention: the two guides have different sizes.

Caution:

  • in the low track, the net locking brush (inclined) is on the inside.
  • in the upper guide, the net locking brush (inclined) is on the outside.

Attach the provided double-sided adhesive on the low bottom track and on the upper guide (see video).

– – 2 – –

Pre-assemble the caps with the springs:

Insert the caps at the cassette extremities. Insert the left cassette on the left side of the window opening. Insert the bottom track.

– – 3 – –

Then position the upper guide and prepare the end cap for the right guide.

We recommend carrying out this procedure in two people for safety reasons.

– – 4 – –

To insert the right cassette, as shown in the image below, it will be necessary to join the right cassette to the upper guide keeping the cassette inclined. Please watch the video carefully to fully understand the procedure.

After having inserted the right cassette on the right side as well, position the insect screen definitively by locking it thanks to the expansion caps on the left and right cassette: it will therefore be necessary to tighten the screws with the Allen key (not supplied) as shown in the photo.

– – 5 – –

Attention, once the cassettes and guides have been installed, check that the little “teeth” (D) are aligned in height with the blocking element (S), as shown in the drawing.

If not aligned, adjust the position of the blocking element (R), using the screw (V).

– – 6 – –

As indicated at the beginning, the two blocking elements must be aligned to guarantee the correct working of the insect screen. The position of the blocking elements determines the point where the first portion of the insect screen that is opened will hook up. (We remind you that once the position has been determined, the insect screen must be locked with a 20 mm Allen key, not supplied).

– – 7 – –

How does the insect screen work?

First hook one of the two panels up to the blocking elements (e.g. left panel). Consequently, the other panel will be fixed to the hook on the bar handle (e.g. right panel).

—> To release the right panel (according to the example), press the release button on the bar handle.

—> To release the left panel, lift the bar handle until it is released.

—> To open the insect screen, press the release button, which is located on the top of the handle itself.

SECTION B

If the upper guide and bottom track are divided into two pieces, please proceed as follows:

– – 1 – –

Prepare the bottom track and the upper guide as shown in the photo by positioning the blocking elements in one of the two bottom and upper guide portions and secure them with a 20 mm Allen key (not supplied). Attention: the two guides have different sizes.

Caution:

  • in the low track, the net locking brush (inclined) is on the inside.
  • in the upper guide, the net locking brush (inclined) is on the outside.

– – 2 – –

Pre-assemble the caps with the springs:
Insert the caps at the cassette extremities. Insert the left cassette on the left side of the window opening and join the two portions of the bottom track by fixing them to the ground with double-sided tape to ensure greater stability.

– – 3 – –

Then position the upper guide and with a pencil mark the point for the hole for fixing the upper guide to the wall (see photo). Once you have accurately identified the point where the dowel will be positioned, remove the upper guide and proceed with drilling with a 6 tip on the indicated point, then inserting the dowel (not included), which must be compatible with your type of ceiling.

– – 4 – –

Then insert the cassette on the right and proceed by also inserting the two upper guides. We highly recommend to carry out this procedure in two people for greater ease and safety. Then conclude with the installation of the upper guides by fixing the screw inside the dowel positioned previously.

Attention: the screws must not interfere with the sliding of the insect screen.

– – 5 – –

Position the insect screen definitively, locking it thanks to the expansion end caps on the left and right cassette: it will therefore be necessary to tighten the screws with the Allen key (not supplied) as shown in the photo.

– – 6 – –

Attention, once the cassettes and guides have been installed, check that the little “teeth” (D) are aligned in height with the blocking element (S), as shown in the drawing.

If not aligned, adjust the position of the blocking element (R), using the screw (V).

– – 7 – –

As indicated at the beginning, the two blocking elements must be aligned to guarantee the correct working of the insect screen. The position of the blocking elements determines the point where the first portion of the insect screen that is opened will hook up. (We remind you that once the position has been determined, the insect screen must be locked with a 20 mm Allen key, not supplied).

– – 8 – –

How does the insect screen work?

First hook one of the two panels up to the blocking elements (e.g. left panel). Consequently, the other panel will be fixed to the hook on the bar handle (e.g. right panel).

—> To release the right panel (according to the example), press the release button on the bar handle.

—> To release the left panel, lift the bar handle until it is released.

—>To open the insect screen, press the release button, which is located on the top of the handle itself.

PROBLEM SOLVING

1) What can I do if the insect screen does not close properly?

If the insect screen does not close properly, reposition the two blocking elements in the centre of the insect screen as indicated at point 7.

2) In the instructions it is written that I can use silicone. When and how can I use it?

In the assembly instructions, reference is made to silicone, not to give more solidity to the insect screen, but to equalize and level any major defects and irregularities of the French door/window opening The use of silicone is recommended only after having properly checked the functioning of the insect screen, to avoid having to disassemble the whole frame in case of problems related to the mounting of the structural elements.

These instructions have to be read before installing, starting-up and using the insect screen.

These instructions are part and parcel of the product.

Read carefully the following warnings and instructions in that they provide important information regarding SAFETY OF USE and MAINTENANCE.

The content of the following instructions has to be brought up to the attention of the insect screen user.

INTENDED USE

The insect screen is only intended to be a protection against the entrance of insects, such as mosquitoes or others, from the openings where it is installed.

The expected installation is the one with horizontal roll-up functioning of the insect screen.

The insect screen must be intended only as mentioned above.

Any other use is to be considered improper.

Here are some examples of improper applications:

– assembling with vertical functioning.

– assembling at the ceiling (for example: skylights).

The manufacturer cannot be considered responsible for any damage caused by improper or different applications other than that for which the insect screen is intended.

UNPACKING

Pay particular attention to the use of pointed and/or sharpened tools to avoid damaging the insect screen.

Check the integrity of the insect screen different parts before installing (side guides, accessories box, etc.).

Do not leave bags or other small loose components within the reach of children.

ASSEMBLING THE ACCESSORIES

The insect screen is assembled by the manufacturer for all that concerns its fundamental parts.

Due to the KIT nature of the product itself, the other insect screen elements are supplied disassembled and it has to be the client who assembles them in accordance with the instructions here provided.

INSTALLATION WARNINGS

Adopt appropriate safety measures to avoid risks during the installation of the product.

1) During the installation of the product, do not cling to it.

2) Use only the components supplied in the assembling kit.

3) In case of application of the insect screen over the first floor of the building, we always recommend to attach the side guides with silicone.

4) Once the installation is over, check the tightening of the expansion screws in the cassette and in the guides.
The day after installation, check the tightness of the screws again to recover and correct any settling of the materials.
If the walls of the window opening have an uneven surface, we suggest to fix the guides with silicone.

WARNINGS FOR USE
ATTENTION! The spring-loaded insect screen presents a serious risk of impact of the bar handle when opening. *
* in models equipped with a brake, this danger is reduced.
To unhook the insect screen and rewind the mesh cloth, rotate the bar handle profile anticlockwise, then always accompany its movement with your hand.
To hook the insect screen back in its initial position, pull the bar handle towards the closing side, then make sure that it is firmly locked in the appropriate hooks.
With the insect screen in operation, avoid knocks on the bottom, which could cause it to close quickly. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM THE HOOKING / RELEASING AREA OF THE INSECT SCREEN.

Periodically (i.e. at least once a month), check the correct tightening of the screws.
In the event of a collision with the guides or the cassette, check the correct positioning of the parts and the tightening of the expansion screws.

DO NOT PROCEED WITH ANY OTHER INTERVENTION THAT INVOLVES THE DISASSEMBLY OF PARTS WHICH ORIGINALLY WERE ALREADY ASSEMBLED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
For these operations, always contact the authorized centre.

MAINTENANCE
ONLY PROCEDURES WHICH ARE AUTHORIZED IN THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL CAN BE DONE BY THE USER.
After being assembled, the insect screen does not require any particular maintenance.

Cleaning
Depending on use (at least once a year), clean the insect screen from dust or other residues.
For this operation, use a brush with soft bristles or a cloth dampened only with water.
For the other metal and plastic parts, use a cloth dampened with water and 10% liquid soap.
If during cleaning (or due to strong air currents), the mesh leaks from the side guides, simply open and close slowly to bring the mesh back into its place.

DISPOSAL
If you decide not to use the insect screen anymore, it is recommended to make those potentially dangerous parts harmless, especially for children. Since the insect screen is made up of easily recyclable materials, please divide the various items and then dispose of them according to the regulations in force.
